Family Rahe, proprietors of the Louis C Jacob, have assembled one of the most important private art collections in any Hotel in Europe The ‘Louis C. Jacob Collection’ consists of more than 500 originals by 19th and 20th Century painters and graphic artists, whose artistic quality and scope are unique. The predominant subject is the northern German landscape with a focus on Hamburg, the port and the river Elbe, the works can be admired in the hotel’s restaurants, lobby, lounges and the 85 rooms and suites. The undoubted highlight of the Rahe family’s collection and great pride of the hotel is a large oil painting of the Louis C Jacob’s Lime Tree Terrace by impressionist Max Liebermann, which can now be admired in the lobby. It is easy and fascinating to follow the theme of art running through the hotel.
